Stop putting lipstick on a pig
So did you make a New Years resolution for 2010? Maybe some of you
have decided to lose weight, join a gym, quite smoking, go to church more
or even be a nicer person. All of which are the most noble of intentions. But
according to statistics, 92% of all New Years resolutions fizzle out within
the first 9 weeks.
Why?
Because whenever you try to change your image of yourself you will
eventually fail. You may try to change how others see you—but it does not
change how God sees you. God looks at the heart---- not the make-up.
Trying to change the human heart is like putting lipstick on a pig. Put on all
the lipstick on you want---a pig will always be a pig! Likewise, all the
remedies in the world cannot fix the human heart. You need a new one!
You can try to be a nicer person. But your “Human” heart is still wicked.
You can go to church more…but your heart is still wicked. You can lose
weight…but your heart is still wicked. You can get a new hairstyle…but
your heart is still wicked. You can try to be a nicer person…but your heart is
still wicked. Psychology cannot change the heart and religion certainly
cannot. Try all you want---the human heart is still wicked!
The Word of God says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and
desperately wicked: who can know it? (Jeremiah 17:9).
Now taking care of your body is good and right. Exercise and proper
nutrition is good, it will extend your life and make you feel healthier… but it
won’t change the heart.
An unholy heart cannot produce a holy thought…ever! All the
improvements on you body---will not change the heart. Muscles, makeup or
plastic surgery is what man’s sees; it’s what we see to boost our self-image.
That is…when we do not see ourselves as God sees us! You can go to hell
with a new nose job, thinner waistline and corrupt heart.
2
Genesis 6:5 says, "And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the
earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil
continually."
In other words---All our wicked practices are traced back to the fountains
and springhead--a corrupt heart.
The heart, which was made according to God's own heart--is now just the
opposite because of Adam and Eve. The heart is now the storehouse of all
impurity.
Jesus said in Mark 7:21,
“For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries,
fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit,
lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil
things come from within, and defile the man.”
But---is there not just a little good in people? No way!!! We are all evil.
Whatever changes may be found in them…its like putting lipstick on a pig.
For the imagination of the heart is evil continually.
What we need is a new heart!!
Christ came into the world and went to the cross to give us a “NEW” life.
HIS LIFE! He did not change “HIS” Old man. (Body). He did not improve
the OLD MAN. The old man was NAILED TO THE CROSS. OUR OLD
HEART OF SIN WAS NOT CHANGED INTO SOMETHING GOOD. Our
old man must be put to death as well.
That is why Paul writes in Galatians 2:20,
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in
me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of
God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Paul also writes in 2 Cor 5:17,
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are
passed away; behold, all things are become new. 3
And when you become born again, God does not change your heart—He
gives you a new one!
Ezekiel 36:26,
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I
will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart
of flesh.
The real you is nothing you can take credit for! It is the most glorious of all
creations. He made you for Himself. You were fashioned with His own
hands. You cannot improve on this life—it is already perfect.
Already righteous. Already Holy! How can you improve on perfect!!!
You can memorize the whole Bible! You can fast and pray, go to church 7
days a week. But you cannot improve on perfect. You cannot add to His
work. His work is finished!!
Those who are in Christ are a “new creations”. What a relief. Ephesians 4:24
says, “And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in
righteousness and true holiness.”
By faith we have been delivered from lipstick and make-up.
If you are a child of God who is always finding fault with yourself and not
loving what you see?
You need to meet God’s new creation.
Love you
